The Marietta Board of REALTORS® would like to congratulate Mr. Gary Pitt for winning the August 2021 Home of the Month. This beautiful Edwardian Style home was built in 1902 with dormers and a bay window for the local doctor, Dr. Forshey and his family. It has only been owned by three families including Gary. He saw this bank owned home go on the market back in 1981 and decided he was interested. He made his offer and the offer was accepted. Now he had to figure out what to do next…..

He has spent the last forty years working on every aspect of the home, keeping it traditional while restoring. The outside is vinyl now but Gary made sure to keep the fish scale gable design. He has created all new woodwork for the first floor, refinished and restored red heart pine flooring throughout, refinished the kitchen and all new baths. The exterior was where Gary put his mark creating a retaining wall and custom landscaping created by a local landscaping company.

This home boasts a double city lot as well. When the house next door unfortunately burned down, Gary bought the lot and built a garage to match the style of the house. It is clear that Gary has taken pride in his home ownership for the last forty years and we are happy to enjoy his hard work.
