Christie and Steven Smith of Marietta

on being selected as the September Home of the Month winner!

The Smiths purchased the home two years ago after returning to Marietta from Florida. Having both grown up in the area, they were eager to come back and knew they had found the perfect place as soon as they stepped inside. Built in the early 1900s, the home has been remarkably well preserved, with much of the original flooring and woodwork still intact. When they first walked into the foyer and saw the two sets of pocket doors and the immaculate staircase, Christie and Steven knew instantly that this was the home for them.

Over the past two years, the couple has worked hard to make the home their own while honoring its historic character. They repainted the entire exterior, which was once red on top and white on the bottom, transforming it into a classic all-white façade with the help of Greenleaf Landscaping. They also replaced the old sidewalk from the street to the house with a welcoming brick paver walkway, and installed a matching brick paver patio in the backyard where an old cistern once stood. Inside, the home features four bedrooms, two and a half baths, and a three-car garage, with refinished woodwork that brings out the timeless beauty of the original design.

For the Smiths, their favorite part of the home isn’t just the craftsmanship — it’s the way it connects them to the community. They love spending evenings on the front porch, visiting with neighbors, and enjoying the friendly atmosphere of their street. They also appreciate the home’s perfect location, just a short walk to town, and love entertaining friends and family in the warm and inviting spaces they’ve created.

The Marietta Board of REALTORS congratulates Christie and Steven Smith on their stunning home and thanks them for helping to keep Marietta’s historic charm alive.
