Home of the Month Winner is....

The May Home of the Month, sponsored by the

Marietta Board of REALTORS®, is this home located at…

410 Fourth Street, Marietta

The Marietta Board of REALTORS® would like to congratulate

the Schlicher Family

The tale of this beautiful home starts in 1895 when the house was built by the Walp Family, who were the first and longest to live in the house. After the Walps, the Gammon Family lived there for about 16 years. The Schlichers purchased the home in September of 2019 and fell in love with the location. The amount of time, work and financial commitment was overshadowed by them wanting to save, rebuild, preserve and live in a downtown Marietta home. The condition of the house was concerning but after going through the house they knew it could be saved. Josh Schlicher was in the construction business for over 20 years before he became Mayor of our historical town, and in his eyes nothing that needed done was impossible. He started on the renovation and did most of the work himself. His mother, Valerie Holley, helped paint and decorate. One of the largest projects was rebuilding the front porch with new columns, capitals and pedestals. The porch floor also had to have repairs and a new metal roof installed. A new 2 car garage was also added. A complete repair of the exterior including slate roof, built in gutters, siding repair and an entire repainting was completed. Inside all new heating and air conditioning, bathrooms, kitchen remodel and a new laundry room, mud room and walk in pantry were built. The original front door was refinished. New replacement windows were installed, and several original windows were kept and refurbished. Overall, all original detail was preserved or replaced with modern materials that match the originals. The Schlichers were given the original deeds to the property as a historical gift from the Walp family.

The Schlichers would like to extend special thanks to Insley Plumbing, Wilson Heating

and Cooling, LS Contracting and Painting, All Shades Painting, Tebay Roofing, Reno

Refinishing and Keim Lumber for making the replacement millwork.

“I appreciate all of the positive comments & support we have received from the neighbors and community. My family moved into our home in August 2022 and we love it.” -Mayor Josh Schlicher

Congratulations again, This award is well deserved!
